Hi guys
I am picking up my first discovery tonight (first 4x4 in fact) its a m plate tdi 3 door with 150k, recon head etc

I want it for p&p days and a bit of mucking about;)

so have a few questions for you :)

Whats the first mods I should do to it to make it better

what size/type tyres can I squeeze on to the alloy wheels dont mind cuttin it up to get them on!

do I really need to lift it, buy a winch etc etc just for p&p days?

Any free mods that I can do, hints tips esc would be most appreciated!!

lastly i'm told theres a p&p day on in bordon on the 16th of october whats it like there could I just turn up with it as a full road car and enjoy myelf?

Sorry for all the Q

Cheers
Matt

:welcome2: to the forum, answers in red ^^^

you need to show us piccies of your motor when you get it, we likes piccies round here :D

welcome,

as Matt said, a decent set of tyres is your best bet then do some pay n play days and see what you need.

If you search the forum this question has been asked a few times before

Awesome stuff, cheers

I'm hoping to keep this a cheapish hobby and generally abuse the hell out of it lol

Yeah, but this gets addictive. Very addictive.. this hobby will never stay cheap. I thought I would have a cheap hobby with an old series 1. I ended up restoring it spending 10k on it, bought a series 2 and 3 then bought a defender. Rebuilt that to all the Laura Croft expedition mods and then finallly got my disco.. As I said good luck to keeping it a cheap hobby! You know you will want it all!!!! All I can say is I am still smiling! Best mid life crisis I have ever had!!!!:D

I would add a couple of rock sliders, a winch, roll bars and what the hell, a snorkel just for added beauty!!! As the others have said, do a search re tyres.. there has been loads and I mean loads of threads in the past re this with some fantastic advice! If you need any help, there are some fantastic people on this site and has truly been a God send to me and has literally saved me fortunes!

Plus as it's new to you I would recommend changing all the oils and filters and grease everything up, maintainance is more required when off roading, good thing about landrovers is the parts are cheap

And yes it starts off a cheap hobbie but it does get addictive

As requested

When theyre new they are a tad noisy on the road but after 1k miles they quieten down as they bed in. In the mud theyre great, ive been through asll sorts of stuff in mine and never been stuck as yet.

People say that your more inclined to break the drivetrain with mud tyres so I just be careful and try not to shock it when I am stuck!

You'll love these tyres, they a good allrounder.
