Hi guys and girls . I'm new to range rovers and picked my first one up about an hour ago . Unfortunately it isn't running at the moment . It's a 2007 range rover sport 2.7 tdv6. The car turns over but won't fire . Every now and again it will give a cough as if it's going to fire but doesn't. The previous owner said that he was driving on the motorway and it started losing power so he pulled over and turned it off and it wouldn't restart. There is no engine management light on and when I scanned it got no fault codes . Can anyone help atall please ??

First off, you might well find that generic code readers won't work. You might need specific diag on it to reveal the fault codes.
That said, it sounds like a fuel pressure issue to me. I'm fairly sure that the tdv6 will be common rail injection so if the fuel pump or pressure releif valve failed there will be no pressure in the rail but extended cranking might just get enough diesel into the cylinder for a bit of a cough now and again.
I'd disconnect the feed to the rail and turn the ignition on and see if you get any diesel coming out.

Thanks mate I'll have a closer look tomorrow and see if I have any joy with that . Really hoping it's a fuelling issue and not something more serious

Only shows post numbers on the laptop, not on the phone so only way is to count them if you're on a phone.
That's not difficult though for post #2!
