Hiya folks

I'm new to the forum, names Julian (blame my mother for that one) from Market Drayton in Shropshire, truck driver by trade delivering road derv and heating oil to transport companies, farms and houses out in the sticks.

A motorbike rider (nice weather only) currently riding a Triumph Thunderbird Nightstorm, my car is a VW Touran but looking at buying an oldish 2000ish landy disco of some description if I can find a decent one for my dollar, here to try and find some tips for getting a good one with the best engine and box to have, would also do a few mods, bigger wheels/tyres, lift it a wee bit etc etc, It maybe cheaper to buy one already done but we'll see,

bored you enough now

Cheers Julian

Quick edit...........Might go with a lightweight landy, basic and easy to work on ;)

Hi and welcome!

A decent lightweight is lots of money. A disco makes a great all rounder for road and off road and is easy to work on and get bits for. Let us know how you get on.

98? Please don't take this the wrong way but the style of photo looks older
I never take anything the wrong way:)
Not sure what you mean though...the pic is taken of a tea cup coaster that the in-laws had made for us , original pic isn't brilliant and the quality dropped further during the coaster printing I guess.
Twas a lovely day though.:)

Ah, ok , that explains it. I thought it was of the original photograph and you had meant 88 not 98. Back in the 80s that shape of photograph was very popular. I still have some in a photo album. Not that the photo album sees much light of day.
