Really good website for the content. Best bit i admire the most is you admit you're not a mechanic, and haven't done more than a pump and turbo change before, yet all of the work you've done so far hasn't seemed to have phased you one bit.

You don't need to worry too much about every little detail of your site, your audience is looking at it for the content and not the design. It's information and pics only, you're not selling anything and the way you're building it at the moment is fine.

However if you are curious about web design i've put a few pointers below :)

Anywhere from 940 - 980 pixels max is industry standard in web design these days unless you have flexible content (your content fits the size of the screen) but flexible content does not make for great designs unless it's a purely creative and non corporate job and you know what you are doing. Stay well away from tables these days, no one uses them for layout anymore, purely tabular data which is what they were made for.

first thanks for the comments, landroverebuild was me trying to be clever as in Ebuild:doh:.

The ultrasonic tank i bought is the one above 6.5 litres, it does a fantastic job, i cleaned 3 carbs for my neighbour Ian for his mini (twin SU) and his sons for his bike they came out very clean, it unseized a couple of the plungers and needles in the float chambers. it did not remove the heavy black deposits inside the carb but if you run your finger over them it does not come off. Also the carbs only smelt of Flash (as i found this works great on aluminium), because they don't smell of petrol they are being rebuilt on his dinning room table, don't use anything agressive on aluminium it goes black.

The cam chain tensioner on my website was cleaned in a small amount of chassis cleaner (weak) i put these items in a glass jar and drop in the tank (keeps tank clean).

Cost of tank £189.

i like this kit because it lets my strip off 36 years of burnt on oil and filth so i can inspect the part properly and decide if it needs replacing. I have another engine (the one fitted) which is a 1963 i'm not rebuilding this one but if i did i know i will get all the bits spotless.

your right i'm not phased by the engine rebuild as the equipment at work i'm used to stripping is far more expensive. i've tryed to be logical about it and do it in stages, engine first then gear box, whilst i'm waiting for the gearbox bits i'll do the chassis either replce or repair (replace would be my option but so far it looks very good).

I'm also taking my time as i don't want to cock it up, i read about how to do it and then reread until i understand and then look on internet to see if somebody has any tips to make it easier.

I did not do in to this blind on cost as i believe this rebuild is going to cost a lot more than it's worth even if i don't replace the chassis. The door are shot and there are damaged panels, i want to spray it a light sand colour with a white roof (was going for Limestone but gone off the colour). This will be a bare metal spray.

Question please, i have three bonnets 2 with the rounded front edge and one (fitted) without a rounded front, which bonnet is correct for a series 3. The ones with the rounded edge have seen better days on the inside steel work.

Been busy with starter and fuel pump, starter painted will post pics when reassembled tomorrow.

What colour Red is that on Vicky?

I'm going to do a repaint this summer - my idea is original marine blue with white truck cab roof - missus wants red. Now, to honest i hate red on a vehicle, but have to say that red looks the business - i may be moving over to the 'Dark Side'.
 
on the subject of repainting is a sand colour in keeping with year?
does anybody else have a sand coloured land rover with a white roof?

no idea, it's just red. I would advise against red though, unless you really want it, as for series 3 and early defenders, red is a very common colour. When i get to the stage of re-painting her i want sunshine yellow body, with black checkar plate

I repainted mine in sandglow, which has a Land-Rover paint code of LRC361. This colour was used on Range Rovers and BL cars in the 70s and was the colour the Camel Trophy vehicles were painted. I think it was used on some export series Land-Rovers too.
 
Has anybody converted one from left hand drive to right hand drive?

Hi, i converted a mk3 spitfire to lhd from rhd and regretted it...ive had loads of landys over here and it really isnt worth the time and expense in converting them.

To be honest, i prefer a rhd over here as i have a better idea of where cyclists and pedestrians are..and in narrow lanes it helps a bit when theres on-coming traffic..theres been a couple of wing mirror losses and i can better argue my case if i can say i was 1 inch from the verge and they have no idea how far they were away...:D
