I've got new gears for my oil pump, and both of them are steel. One of the old ones is aluminium is this correct?

yeah , mine were the same, one ally and one steel

why new gears tho?? yer check the endfloat and wear on the old ones?

i checked end float and the aluminium was a max, but it was the backlash that was problem teeth on aluminium looked bad. checked housing and it has no wear.

i have fitted then into housing and there is no backlash and end float is good.

just wanted to know if there is a problem with two steel gears.

are the gears a pair or both the steel the same ? if so i think one should be aluminium
