You can pick up an arc welder for about £30 second hand mate and youtube tutorials can be handy for teaching you the basic principals then its just practice and if you can arc weld then you would find mig welding **** easy.Hope all goes well for you mate i hate seeing people robbed of their hard earned cash.

Ah I love money...

Insurance company (previous) had me as 5 years NCB, I have been driving three years but one year included learning time, and the other was a bonus year.

When I changed insurers I paid my money but 2 months later they chased up the proof of NCB, previous company would only allow them to switch over 3 years, so I have been billed an extra £241 this week.

That 109 cost me £500. Its now had three or four hours labour on it..... Im working on getting the 88 back on the road, I REALLY dont want to part with my new girl, but what with it needing brake overhauls and the main beams welding I think I may have too. :-(. I only get paid £5.93 an hour.

Three years of having a Series as a daily drive is throwing up problems. Im being urged by my dad and mechanic that I'd be better off with a 90, which would be nice and comfortable, but I really don't want one. I like Series :frown::frown::frown:

The sad thing is, the bloke was so nice, so matey really genunine sounding, gave me FSH, added me on facebook and was just a thorough legend and now this has happened. Its about 1 foot of welding each side and a little bit around the rear section, could cost hundreds.....

Although it's a ****ty trick to fill and then underseal a chassis, a foot of replacement each side is not that bad on an oldie like your 109 bite the bullet and get it done it should not cost that much. I replaced a lot more than that on my Defender this year for the MOT.

What you bought it for means that you aint gonna make a loss if you had to sell it. I rekon you'd be better off learning to weld and doing it yourself.

put some pics up of the damage after giving it a really good going over with your biggest hammer. if its not too bad you bring it down and do all the cutting and grinding I could mig it up for you mate.

if you have him on facebook send him the pics and ask for some cash for repairs!!

if you are anywhere near wolves mate i can have a pop at it for you ,i'm not the greatest welder in the world but will be tidy and strong with no pidgeon ****.

did some on my chasis last weekend- found another mouses nest in there and set it on fire with the grinder- i think they had mostly made it out of tobacco by the smell lol .

wife kept complaining bout the lights in the house dimming with my migset on 7 too lol

Thanks for all the kind offers guys. I will get back to you once Ive got myself together! Still a little knocked for six as whimpy as that sounds!

I will show the previous owner the damage. As you say.

With me being in Buckinghamshire with no grandads privellages and no car atm, I cant make any decisions. I really dont want rid of the 109, braking system needs overhaul as well as the welding. I will get some inspections done, get some quotes, may consult you lot for advice if this is ok.

I may try and call the PO, as I still can't get my head round it. He was such a nice bloke

like I said get under there and beat fook outta ya chassis, dont be scared because anything that comes off with yer hammer is no use anyway.

then put up the pictures on ere and we can advise!
