New to Defenders and on the Hunt

Afternoon All,

Wife and I are Yanks over here for another year in the military. We just started our family and have decided to tackle another headache by getting ourselves a Defender to drive and take home with us in a year. We've had a great stay in the country so far and just appreciate how friendly you all have been!

I like the plan you have

.... The 90 you linked to looks to be in good cosmetic condition, but the pictures of the underneath don't show enough detail to comment on the state of the chassis IMHO.

Other places to look on the web include the bay of e, and autotrader - in which you'll probably find links to specialist dealers up and down the country ...

Do you know anyone who knows LR's ? - if so, take them with you, and recompense them with cake

- it's a fine currency for such things

Buy it, looks 100% genuine and pretty honest which is probably the mot important thing for you if you are taking it back state side.

Spend some time and money on it and get it 100% here as it will cost you double back home.

Its MOT history gives some clues as to the life it has had. Evidence of excessive corrosion and structural damage to the chassis. Also it had a fail on excessive smoke for a non-turbo diesel recorded at one point; you say it is a 90TD so might have had an engine change which would prevent it being imported to the USA. And long periods untested and untaxed, so probably used as a farm truck. Personally I would steer clear of it. As Disco1BFG noted, looks good cosmetically but I think it is hiding its real condition.

And the MOT expired on the 7/9/2015 but the ad says its MOT'd to 10/4/2020. Something wrong there. Its currently recorded as not having an MOT.

Things didnt smell right when I checked it out and chassis was looking quite fishy.
