I’ve recently bought a defender 110 county 2011 reg and it needs some work doing to it. I’ve got two howling moon roof tents hopefully coming to me before the end of June :) and then I’m heading off on a 2-month tour of the Baltics. If anyone has the time some ideas/help please… First thing, I have no air con, does anyone know if it’s an easy job to incorporate air con, can it be done, it looks like it may be bloody expensive? Has anyone used one these and do they work Revotec Electronic Fan Conversion Kit 90/110 2.5P 2.5D and 2.5TD -
The windscreen motor has packed in, I’ve been doing some research and it seems it’s a long winded process to sort as the dash has to come out. Is this a job for a garage or can this be done with a bit of patience?
Also, anyone know where I can get my footsteps treated and recoated, they are rusty as hell.
Fianlly any tips on treating rust spots that are showing inside and out, nothing major just want sorting before they become problematic. Cheers in advance

Welcome:)

To the LoonyZone, doing what your attempting some would say you fit in straight away:)

Show us some pics here.

But to get honest and constructive ideas you need to ask the detail of your question in the defender section

Here https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/defender-90-110-130.7/

What you are attempting needs a very reliable motor, I think AC is the least of your worries right now.

But hey go for it but take advice from the members here and enjoy it:D

Welcome! Sounds like interesting times ahead!!
You have air conditioning, it's those 2 bulkhead vents!! Get a safari roof, more reliable, although I'm not sure how much they actually help

Cheers the guidance, I think I'm going to need a lot more of it moving forward. Yes, you're right there's no natural air con with regards the bulkheads, this was fazed out on this model I think. Thanks for the link I'll speak to the defender section :)

You sound as mad as the ones have been here years. I like it

-not familiar with your engine but many choose to lose a viscous in favour of elec fan mod. There are pros and cons to everything it depends what suits you.
-County will go anywhere so if tyres are decent for your trip no need to go monster truck just yet.
-Dash out can be done but I found it a nightmare in 98defender. I would try everything to avoid if possible, but it is doable with patience and time - more time than what I thought by far
-You need a good rust converter, few coats if it’s bad. Some of them act as primer too but Galv primer works well before painting.

Increase the security. They're easily nicked.

Hey, thanks for the compliment and apologies for coming back late been camping for a few days.

Will look into that.
Good advice, already booked it in for the wipers, did a bit research and it's a nightmare as you say.
Just taking it to a back street garage that has come with good references, getting a quote this afternoon.

Cheers for your help :)

Nightmare - it is always worse than it looks, nothing in the book is covered in sh**e with age weakened plastics

I know that now. Did the job though, can’t even remember why I had to pull it out? I do remember passengers do not like vehicles without a dash :D:eek: and mine had no SRS luckily
