ffs why o why are you still harping on about this feckin motor, the one you seen at the start of this thread has probably had 2 owners by now, its dead simple, find a car you like, take it on a test drive, if you still like it get an inspection if you know **** all about cars, then decide whether to buy it or not, where is the difficulty in that

Smart arse.... the difficulty in that is paying market value for a vehicle which is marketed as the text book main dealer car but in reality has no documented service history from a main agent .... now lets see if you would buy a car like this, especialy one so knowledged as you

so what the **** are you harping on about, its obviously not what you want so walk away ffs

then get them to drop the price. It isn't as described. If a main dealer describes a vehicle like this with full service history, then they have to be able to back it up.

The previous owner has played a blinder and been straight and open with you. Just because his company pays towards the car doesn't change the fact it's been in private ownership. My company pays me to use my freelander for work, but it it treated far better than any company car would be. (intermediate services, oil changes at 1/2 recommended mileage, wheels off every month (approx 3000 miles) and so on)

We have all given our opinions on this, but it's not our 12k. Buy it, it has a years warranty, so you've got a years motoring free from costs for failures. Then if you like the car after a year, take it back to the main dealer and get them to take it as a part exchange, but take NO CRAP about the service history.

I have a hunch if you buy this car and it all goes pete tong, you might be back on here trying to blame us.

If you int happy, don't buy the ****er, unless you happen to be the kind of gifted individual that can afford to lose a substantial part of your 12k.

now make your mind up and let us know, or don't make your mind up and lets us know, or make your mind up and don't let us know.

It is true this forum is about helping each other, and having a little (or a lot of) fun along the way. However, you have posed a question, for which a lot of us have expressed our opinions, but the decision remains yours. Your endless dithering over moot points in the service history is becoming tiring to say the least. If you pm one of the moderators and ask nicely, they may change your user id to "MAVIS", as in "I don't really know" from Coronation Street, years ago.

It comes down to is the car worth 12k with no service history ? If you are happy with that, then buy it. If not, renegotiate the deal or look elsewhere.

there are some cruel bug*ers on here, but they are also very helpfull fishing is a good sport

as for freelanders , i dont give a fu*k, mine is a good one , when it starts to cost too much to keep in on the road then we part company.
service history isnt worth ****e, 17 k is like new, service history wont tell you if it ever ran out of oil, and the td4 as anyyone who has ever owned one will tell you they are great and fun to drive ,

td4 2004 go get your motor and let us know how you get on with it , they are not discoverys, or rangerovers, just a small 4x4 that are easily to live with and cost less to run, cruise all day at 80mph or very capable off road,

3 years and i cant think of a reason to change it yet

Cheers. I will be going for it. Just a quick question. Is the engine belt or chain driven?

Cheers

I'm with TD4 on this one, if any user doesnt like the content of a thread then why resort to rude and childish remarks aimed at the author of the thread.

Simple '' DONT READ IT''

You cannot stop straight away any user that wants to add the usual sh#te post to a thread, just laugh at their small mindedness and dont bite back.

You where right to ask for an opinion and most contributors have been helpfull, for me no service history on a £17k car i would walk away.
Plenty more available in other dealers if that is where you prefer to buy your cars from.

So to conclude: Ignore the baiters and enjoy the forum.

Have you tried contacting the previous owners independant garage for receipts of the work carried out? They must have them, by law. Or at least be able to confirm what work they have done.

who rattled your cage yer muppet?

some folk are beyond help. he starts off well enough then quickly goes to pot. his 2ndpost has this nugget in it "

I test drove the TD4 Sport last week, and it was nice to drive. Steering was a little heavy and pulled to the right"

then he starts wittering on about the service history. he didn't want to buy it and was looking for someone to tell him that.

anyway he's probably gone and bought it now. so he'll be back next week wanting to know what the clunk is coming from the front

dunt worry too much, he had a merc and a bmw before, and he's getting it from Stratstones in Mayfair so he's not short of a few quid
