just had the abs pump and switch fail - boo hoo. Replaced both at a petty penny and thought bxxxxxxs, might as wel change the disks and pads whilst I'm at it (not for the sake of it - mot recommended new rear discs for the following mot)
Question being - what is a reasonable upgrade for the P38 1995? Would like to be able to stop on a six pence if possible if only to put the wind up the youngsters that sit on your arse!! - lol
I welcome your advice and replies, and any humour for good measure

I've seem some grooved Black diamond discs that perform well from the reviews and also the "green stuff/ yellow stuff£ gear - any good?

Mr Wammers, I know you're legendary for your wit, but the black diamond discs are roughly £230 and the pads about £120. The wagon on a good day in the right light could easily fetch £352.
Just wanna upgrade the old girl - mainly coz it's my 2 year olds taxi, so if I can avoid the idiots in front of me with more control, surely that's a good thing, besides, I got money to burn or rather the old girl is like a damn furnace and burns any currency within 100ft - lol

You can get adiquate discs and pads all round for about £100.00. If you have money to burn that is up to you. Unless your racing it, standard stuff is just as good as the drilled and slotted stuff. No need for it. But your choice.:):)

Thank you Mr Wammers for your grounded reply, I bought the wagon from Javars through the site, it's in mint condition and only had to replace the eas pump and possibly the abs pump after 8 months of owning herr (jury out according to my mechanic until the morning as he didn't have to reset the fault codes after replacing the switch) it's a good old girl, but as I'm finding out, you don't buy a P38 if you're sensible, you buy 'em coz you love 'em.

If you wish to improve the braking I suggest you contact someone who can re-design the complete braking system including reprogramming the ABS control system, because at the end of the day a 2.5 ton vehicle capable of towing a 3.5 ton trailer, 6 ton in total will have decent standard brakes. Even if you do just upgrade the disc's/pads the ABS control system will release/re-apply the brakes when the wheels lock. Maintain a standard braking system to a high standard, Ebc/Ferodo/Mintec pads and standard disc's, change the brake fluid every 2 years, problem sorted.

^^^ like the man said, everything else is pointless, didn't change my brake fluid from new (97) and just changed it one month ago, got a firm peddle now, and still stops good, unless your coming off a motorway slip road at 100mph and slam them on, you'll get fade, but good tyres is your best bet if you got £££ that's what will let you down not the brakes
