Only had my Freelander for 3 weeks and to be honest I bought it without doing much research, but the deal was good and I've always wanted a 4x4 to go shooting in.
Having now done some research and joined 2 Freelander forums, I have turned into a paranoid wreck. What was that noise, has the Head Gasket gone, what if the IRD or Viscious unit is knackered e.t.c.
Surely not every 1.8 petrol Freelander sold before 2001 is a waste of money. Someone somewhere must have a positive spin on ownership. I need some reassurrance so I don't sell it on.
I've posted this same message on the other forum so it will be interesting to see if there are any difference in opinions, I'm not expecting alot of positive's from some members on here going by some of the threads I have read!!
Thanks,
Hamish.

Hello Hamish,

Most of the posts you see are from people who are looking for help on one issue or a another, from the amount of people who have bought these I am sure that they represent a very small percentage, true there are issues you have to watch for (HGF) again if addressed on time the cost will be low,

Unfortunatly the faults pole does not contain sufficent information (total amount not broken down, how well they were serviced to give a decent overview, and all the rest

Any way I have had a freelander for over three years now, Changed the head gasket out as a precausion, and only had a failed clutch (reason it went was it had a hard time with a learner driver)

Just keep a eye on it and fix problems before they get worse
