hello

wished to come and say hi

owned a freelander for the last 4 years and traded it in

picked this up today

2005 auto, 98,000 miles

needs some work and i got a good deal ,

needs new tyres , has some m and s 235x70x17

is a basic model, no sat nav, cruise etc

airbag light is on

needs a new key cover and the buttons plastic has worn through

didn't realise it was rechargeable

it wanders over 60mph , but the tyres have about 1mm on them

passenger door handle lock trim broken

drivers door trim needs fixing on properly

will have to give it a goods service

my god is so different from the hippo and a dream to drive

plenty of buttons

tried the different ride settings, had to sit there with the book

so going to start looking through the tech side aboutt he airbag light

am a happy camper , but will be a steep learning curve

Looks nice, that. Basic is good - less to go wrong! Airbag light might well be just a connector under the seat. Enjoy!

thks , will check wires

thought the basic model would be an ideal thing for me

am i right in saying i need a diagnostic to turn the light off

will get some new tyres and also sort out the wandering over 60mph

then also give it a good service, so i know it's all done

It's a nice looking Disco.
I'm more au fait with the Disco 2, but diagnostics might be needed to find out what's going on with the SRS airbags, and you might need to clear any historical DTCs. I always try to advise that you clear out all the historic codes then go for a drive to see what happens and then proceed according to the results.
As far as the wandering is concerned, replacement tyres might be a good idea before you start looking, then get the pressures set right. Then you can start looking at the steering system for play and so on.
The small stuff such as the fob shell and the door handle trims are fairly easily available on the bay of fleas, as are the little plastic trim rivets.
When you get a chance as soon as you can, get the underside steamed off, checked and repaired as required then get a good coat of Dinitrol on it. Might as well to as much as you can to protect your current investment.

thks mate , am really chuffed with it, know it needs work , did notice some surface rust here and there and got a karcher, so thinking of putting up on the my ramps,

better check they will take the weight first, lol

never checked the tyre pressures etc and it needs new tyres anyway

have got a hawkeye and see an extra unlock code is 200 quid, i might do that for now , as other ones are 500 , so the 300 quid saving can use that for my tyres

normally go to ats , won't go near quick fit

don't think 120 quid is bad each, but they got some for 80 , don't know if it's a false economy putting cheaper ones on

it was raining on the way home and kept it around 50mph for safety

yes trims etc not to worried yet

can't stop smiling , maybe when i start paying for bits the smile may lower. abit , but the bits are around the same as hippo bits , until u go into suspension etc

it has a new air pump , and checked all the heights, played with every single button ,

Sadly, that's one of the "pleasures" of owning a Landy instead of a Mini.
The last two sets of tyres I bought I got online from MyTyres.com.
The last set were Pirellis, they were doing a deal, 130 quid each or all four for £99.50 each. They delivered them to my local garage and he fitted them and I reminded him of the deal he was running, the one he didn't know about, 15 quid a corner or all four for £50 cash. He liked at the word "cash"
I got my winter tyres from the same place, they're Coopers M+S.
All are road biased tyres, although I have been known to do a bit of "urban off-roading" otherwise known as two wheels up on the kerb!

thks for the web site

seen on ats

nexan at 77quid

general grabber for 120

will check out ,, my tyres website

plus these coopers m and s

just looked i currently have continentals

i've dropped a right clanger , there's no spare , crap

In't it underneath?

erm no

how embarrassing , i assumed it was inside , what an idiot

oh well , add to the list

maybe get one from a breakers or off ebay

what a bloody doughnut , maybe i was so involved with looking underneath , am kicking myself

I'm not sure whether it's a full sized wheel or a space-saver, but I do know it should be at the back underneath and let down probably from a bolt arrangement in the loadspace.
Maybe the seller still has it in the back of his shed.

have emailed him to ask, see also they get nicked on a regular basis, there's a secure plate i've seen being sold to prevent this

if he hasn't will pick one up at a breakers, will give me chance as well to clean and paint whilst the wheel isn't there

got two tins of black hammerite left over, don't know if it's worth using it up on the chassis

plus i think i need some new ramps, my old ones i don't think will take the weight , see some plastic ones that can take a few ton and extra wide , will be ideal to put the front up first do that end and then swap to the back

looking for that dinotrol stuff as well

imagine 4 x cans would be enough

As far a as tyres and their prices go, it's worth remembering that some of the bigger names also own smaller brands that you wouldn't normally consider. for example Continental also own Barum, so chances are their tyres are heavily related to Conti's for less dosh.

I got all of the Dinitrol needed as a complete "kit" for the Disco 2 from the bay. Apparently there is some Geeerman stuff which some reckon is better, but the consensus seems to be that Dinitrol is better than Waxoil or old engine oil.
Here's another linky for you to look at:
