congrats on getting a proper motor! I had freelander for a couple of months when my defender got written off, picked it up cheap, couldn't wait to get rid of it and ended up with a 2006 D3 as her indoors decided that was the one I needed! You'll soon have it all sorted out, enjoy!

bless u for that

may i ask do u think 5 x cans will be enough plse

thks
Quite probably more than enough. I used 5 litres to do the underside of my D2, but that has a big chassis to cover as well as a floor.
bare in mind that essentially there are 3 kinds of Dinitrol, underbody wax, cavity wax and wheel arch treatment.
It comes in either spray gun cans or aerosol cans.
I got a full kit for the D2 plus 2 more underbody wax and handed it over to my local garage to do the job. They seemed to like the stuff and it was only the cavity wax which they had any left over.

does look good stuff, will use up my tins of hammerite so at least it will give it a tidy up

can then buy the tubing in order in can inject some cavity wax it inside as i realise now it rots inside out

thinking it might be better to wait until the weather warms up again , but in the mean time will buy some decent ramps and give it a real good power wash, getting all the junk off, painting it with the hammerite

think the spray will be better as a finish , so it can get in everywhere

well today bought some treats for my d3

on coming home on the motorway felt it hanging back, which the going up a hill

going to take the maf out for cleaning , when i parked up and restarted the car it was fine

going up the hill i kicked down and it felt as though i had flooded the engine

tomorrow will set up my iid to read through the system

bought some maf cleaner , know it's a petrol cleaner but can't see it doing any harm

news tyres on the front

That's a nice looking motor you got there :)- I wish electronics would live up here, cos they really are rather splendid looking vehicles :(

Have a look at "Fertan" ( available on the bay of fleas ) -

www.fertan.co.uk

it needs water to work, and converts rust into a blue black coating, which you should over paint in less than 3 months. This time of year is a good time to use it IMHO, as, well, its a bit damp etc.....

Definitely agree that waxoyl has lost its edge too - we use bilt hamber - its at least on a par with dinitrol, and is made in england too!!

thks, am really pleased with it

list is getting longer but knew it had faults so that's why it was so cheap

bless u, see fertan is £25 per litre, ouch

but know the decent stuff costs more , as they say get what u pay for, lol

Aye, but a litre will go a long way - it'll do the entire vehicle if its applied properly - low pressure spray - which we learn't the hard way - brushing it on is a complete waste of fertan....

IME, all the bilt hamber stuff is very good - plus their technical folk are very approachable, and also interested in what you are doing with the stuff!:)

that's also great to know, a company that has good customer service

will give them a call to see what they recommend and also ask them about using a hv sprayer and how or if it needs diluting etc

have got a hv sprayer that i done emulsion and sprayed my shed and fence panels with etc and if its very thin in its vecosity would be ideal ,

as u say better to spray it so it can get in all the little areas that a brush can't, plus will last longer due to it being a thinner coat

ps as a side note , getting my tyres done today the guys had to put the disco on off road mode , hazards and open the boot so that the air bags were protected from damage

I was meaning spray application for the Fertan - to make it economic to use...... I've used the bilt hamber cavity wax in a schultz gun, and in their own aerosols - the aerosols are way easier to use - and no cleaning afterwards - the minimal extra cost is worth it in my book....:)

thks, yes that's what i thought u meant in spraying it , making it go a lot further

weighing it up its not really too much , a rusty chassis doesn't bare thinking about,

if i get it all done know whilst it only has a little surface rust is as u say an ideal time

want to look after it
