New Owner - Light Problem

Hi folks bought myself a Softback yesterday , first ever Land Rover. Noticed last night my main beam wont work. Dipped beam works fine but main beam doesnt work , and I dont get the little blue light on the dash either strange thing is when I try to use the main beam when on dipped it switched the lights to side lights, try main beam again and it brings the dipped beam back on ? checked fuses etc today couldnt find anything wrong, any ideas ?

Yup Earthling. . . .you's dunt say wot model, as wiring varies ,so ma mutt porky carnt research yer problim [eeze got an Nvq in leccy]. . . . [un eeze er furra bread] but say's you could be unlucky un have both bulbs gone [there twin elerments] or relay is fooked or fuse . . . .more complicated faults could be yer dip switch/wiring fault. . . .best oh luck

Cheers Ming its the 1.8i with the K Series. I will have a look at the bulbs later and if Ok will try a relay - hope its not more complicated like the stalk switch :-(
