Currently looking for some new tyres for my 2005 HSE TD4 freelander , currently I have the standard 225 / 55 R17 on it.

Doing a lot more off road driving , what would be the biggest walled tyre I could put on it without issues ? Any ideas on the best place to get tyres from. Many thanks Dave

I've currently got Maxxis Bravo AT in 225/60/17 on my SE. I've found them to be a pretty good all-rouder. They are lasting very well, I don't notice any difference in wet or dry grip on tarmac and they've been ok in the off-road places I've been.
225/60/17 will fit straight on your HSE without modification too.

Hi Nodge going to fit the the 225 / 60 / 17 Maxxix Bravo - In the event a 225 / 60 /17 went flat and a 225 / 55 / 17 (current spare tyre size) was fitted it would cause issues ? Do I buy 5 tyres or can I get away with 4 new for each corner and keep the original (smaller) existing spare ?

The spare only becomes important when you need to use it. I've never bothered with the spare. It it becomes necessary to use it, I'll fit it to the front and get the flat tyre sorted straight away.
I've found the Maxxis Bravo AT OK, except for them producing tyre noise.
