Just spotted this on the mudstuff website: MUDSTUFF.CO.UK, DefenderVENT : Replaces standard windscreen demister vents in the Land Rover Defender.

how easy would it be to T into the heater ducting and make your own side vent? cannot be that hard can it? I did like the look of their kit, but at over £100 its a bit of a no no :blabla:

£30 maybe, but not that. So what you think, can it be done? duct and vents will be easy to source, its just the connection i am unfamiliar with.

Is diverting air away from the windscreen a good thing, mine takes ages to clear as it is?

once mine is hot, it does not take long to clear. But how many times have i been on the motorway and not been able to see in me mirrors due to misty side windows. Coupled with some heated mirrors, these should be a good combo.

If you can find vents that can manually be shut off then that may solve your problem. they must be out there.

If you don't mind them being about 3" diameter then eberspacher vents are only about £5-£10 on ebay and you can direct em or close em if needed. They also do the piping too.

funny enough, i just found them

3" may be a bit excessive though. around 1" would be ideal.

So how easy would it be to T into the dash/window vents then?

If the pipe that comes from the heater is just a single pipe that splits off. You should be able to just add an additional split providing their is room for an extra Y peice behind the dash. Eberspacher and webasto pipes and connectors are gonna be your best bet all round I rekon.

I am looking at fitting an eberspacher in my 110 in the next month or so. I will be using the directional and closable vents sunk into my rear bulkhead.

Yer think your right Ratty. the Eber. stuff is good and should work with eachother.

let me know how you get on with the diesel heater, be interested to know where you mount it etc. I have been looking into these but cannot justify the 250-300 quid they go for on Ebay yet. also not sure how best to mount it in the 90. will keep researching, be good to see yours when its done.

My 110 is an ex electricity board jobbie. I have a wooden bulkhead/partition from floor to roof behind the second row seats. I'm gonna mount the main unit under one of the 2nd row seats with the intake and exhaust out the floor. Military landys fitted with em have the same. They use rubber bungs on the pipes to prevent water ingress when wading.

I haven't decided yet if I want the vents blowing through the bulkhead Under the seats or between the seats about head height. For defosting the screen I rekon head height would be best. For deffosting any passengers I think under the seats would be best.

I think I'll wait until I have it and then go from there.

Those heaters dont half chuck out the heat ....

, but as for the side demisters , as a quick thought you could try a 90 degree copper bend in the main ducting and use wiring conduet ( that black flexi stuff ) to go to the side windows .
be cheaper then £100 for some new vents at least ...

Just fit a tee piece below the exsisting vent and run a length of flexi pipe to the sides. Or just slide the front half of the side windows forwards about 1/2" and it soon clears the windows.

kopex is the flexi stuff you need, along with the 25mm glands - no way to angle the side vents but even a small amount of warm air is enough to keep the side windows clear
