Im Terry , i just bought my first landrover and i love it ! First "classic" also ...
i expect it to be a steep learning curve ! Like getting hands dirty though which i suspect will be a help ! suspect i might need a fair bit of guidance from your gurus though.
bought a landrover 90 last week out of necessity due to the snow - we have not had the car within 3 miles of the house in a month ! - shopping , coal and christmas was a no go !
its an 87 landrover 90 with the 19J turbo diesel - 106k geniune miles with all paper work to trace it back and all numbers match 3 owners since new
chassis seems solid with one small welding repair needing done to the rear cross member where the rear exhaust hanger snapped off
the bulk head is solid internally but the externals where the door hinges mount and under the windscreen need replacing - not as easy as it sounds i believe but ill give anything a go once.
hi lo and diff lock all work , the gear box seems solid and positive
engine sounds good , oil leak from the air filter area but i believe thats the crank case breather venting into the air filter - will get that rerouted into the chassis - seems to be the standard course of action to keep tin worm at bay.
have a month off so thinking about cleaning up the underside and hammeriting external surfaces and wax oiling internals - is that a good idea or will it just make me cry when it alll crumbles away ?
best learn to mig i suspect - can arc but dont have the equipment and never arced in small spaces !
very additive to drive !
