433 I think....

Now, you may need to get the key coded to the car, as there is a passive transponder chip inside, that gets 'excited' by the coil round the ignition switch, this then transimts a rolling code to the car which the EWS unit reads and checks if it is correct....if it is, it issues a 'OK to start' signal to the BCU and Engine ECU, the car canthen start.

Keys direct from LR will not need to be coded to the car as they will come already set with the correct rolling code sequence.

After market keys can sometimes require the EWS unit to be removed (which is under the central console and gear selector surround) and plugged into a device which reads the rolling code sequence and then sets this to the key...the EWS unit is then placed back into the car.

One of your links looks to have done what i had planned to do with mine.....put your electronics into another body, simple to do, only trouble is only certain places can cut the Land Rover style key blades....the other link is to an Australian auction for a 315MHz transmitter.

How? Posting 'got it sorted' doesnt help anyone else in similar shoes does?

I used the new shell bought from ebay, had my local key cutter cut the key, moved the parts from the old key into the new body and followed the steps on here to code the key
