Hi all, not only got problems with my freelander I cant work out how to post a thread!! Ratty kindly answered to my private message....and opened me a thread for others members and guests to offer any advice, cures, etc....I wanted to add to it to explain abit more....but i seem to be replying to my own thread!! DERRRRRRRRRR!! Not good with computers!!
My poor TD4 is suffering loss of power aminly uphill or 3000 revs(bit like me at 02.40 at work), although I may have had that fixed yesterday, not had chance to check and give it some welly!! I had the boost control sensor changed that came up on diagnostic along with the fuel pressure sensor (expensive) so went for the cheaper possible problem 1st!

Also got oil pi**ing out of dipstick if the stick thing (technical talk) is not pushed in properly....temporay a fix but never the less.....NOT GOOD:eek:

ALSO.................Masses of white/gray smoke bellowing from the exhaust intermittently, mainly on initial excelleration....but other random occasions also!!

Can I use this as a thread???? Mechanical and technical help required please!! Tired, distressed, p*ssed off, poorly F.L owner (TD4 02 plate 2.0L), who requires assistance to fix her normally healthy F.L....(and needs her bed)!!!!:violin:

cheers for advice! fab site....I think im a paramedic turning into mechanic......ok not quite....but def getting me into trying diagnose and sort before bin ripped of by some garage!!!!
Just got quite a few problems ailments that need a cure!!!

the white smoke from your exhaust is normally a pointer towards head gasket failure or if your really unlucky cylinder head cracked, either way expensive

I'sh sounds like a head gasket or cracked head. Engine pressurising the oil ways in the engine pumping oil out all the seals and dip stick. Also sounds asif there is water getting to the piston which indicates the same sort of diagnosis head gasket/head issues. I would take it to get sniff tested at a garage or better still get the garage to bring out the test equipment to check. Sorry not the best news I guess but Welcome none the less
