Hi folks,
i recently had to fit a new fuel pump to my 2003 disco. on the old one, i reckon i was getting about 30mpg however, since i've had the new one fitted my mpg has dropped to about 24-25.
is this just a case of plugging in the ECU and tweeking something or is it a problem with the new pump?
Any advice or comments would be really welcome.

Cheers

Thanks guys,
i have been under the back and there is no sign of any diesel, sight or smell. would it only be leaking whilst driving?
Cheers

are you going by how much fuel you are having to actually add or by what the fuel gauge is showing?

Hi
check your FPR and the fuel delivery system in engine bay there might be a leak there due to the increase pressure from new pump

At first i thought it was just the fuel gauge but i have done a couple of long trips now and kept a note of how much fuel i have used and the milage. and it is definitely using a lot more fuel than before.

I will check the FPR, thanks.

check you oil level and sniff the dipstick, to eliminate fuel leaking into the sump from a cracked head or dodgy injector seals.

ooooo, that got me worried! but i've had a really good check, smelt the oil cold and hot, and definitely no diesel smell there, phew. Had a good check over the engine and the tank end and no diesel seems to be leaking. So back to the drawing board.
