Hi folks so just got masel an 03 plate freelander serengeti short wheel base td4, and it seems to be the older look to it, have seen 53 plates that look newer so assume they facelifted around 53 to 54 or so, anyway just a bit advice on what i can do to make it look a bit newer
so are the facelift better looking headlights a direct swap in? and what else would i need a front bumper as well? would they fit with the older bumper? as i know they have that little ball part that goes lower? so would just doing those to work? i prefer the newer bumpers anyway with them being colour coded at the front middle looks much better!
i also notice some have the wee roof bars at the rear that looks quite good, i have tinted sides that look ok and theres been side steps fitted that look not bad, just wanting to make it look half decent so all any advice welcome about other things can do that dont cost a fortune lol

Hi.
The Freelander was facelifted in late 2003 (53 plate) where the headlights, front and rear bumpers and new interior was fitted. There were some other modifications to the electrical system that happened at the same time. LR also dropped the silly model name's, like Kalahari, and Serengeti too. Different models now got letters for trim level identification, like S, SE, and HSE.
The facelift headlights and bumpers will fit the pre-facelift body. There are some small metalwork modifications needed to fit the headlights in the space available. There's a small bit of tin cutting required for the rear bumper too, but not much. All the tail lights are different, so all 4 will be needed.
Otherwise it's a job that a competent DIYer could complete.

Costs of the facelift parts needed can be high, as the conversion is very popular.

The roof bars are simple bolt on additions, although costs can also be high for a complete kit of parts.

Oh and the 3dr Freelander is know as a Hardback, not SWB. The wheelbase is actually the same across both 3 and 5 door variants. ;)

Hi and thanks for all the info nodge, much appreciated so its hardback lol, cool as i say i know very little and all new, i also know theres a few wee bits that need doing that i will be starting new threads for.
thanks Grant
