Morning all,
Just been an agreed a sale on a Green 51 plate F1 TD4 GS. Have been doing my research through the forum for a few days now, I have found it an invaluable resource in knowing what to look out for on our first ever LR. I've driven a borrowed defender a few times as my twin boys are LR mad and they spotted the one I have purchased on their way to school and have been crazing me over it ever since. They still don;t know I've even looked at it yet so can't wait to see the look on their faces when I bring it home this afternoon!

Welcome and good luck with the freelander, they are much better than some people think. If you have done research you'll know that the tyres all need to be the same with similar wear. Is it still 4 wheel drive or has the rear prop been removed?

Cheers Col,
All 4 tyres were replaced in December for new however they are 2 different pairs. I need to have a good look at them when I get it home.
Seems a waste to get rid of new tyres!

Yes it does seem a waste but different tread patterns give different levels of grip in different circumstances. If you decide to keep them, the grippier ones need to be on the front, even then there is no guarantee it won't put a strain on the transmission. It's one of the drawbacks of the vcu.
