Essential its a pimped up ballsack. Do. Not. Want.

They should just fully end the defender and bring out a new truck if they must. Don't associate them. The 1948 lineage has finished.

I thought that Nissan had the market gripped with silly looking Softroaders. Nope, that crown has now been snatched by LR. Where are you going to fit a couple of wet smelly Labradors, guns, boots, birds, and all the other stuff I bought a Defender for? We all know the answer, this was designed to appeal to the designer people for looking cool outside of Starbucks. Real shame, end of an era.

And suddenly the market value of real defenders goes up.

in fairness - if the front was slab-ended - the square cut back and wheels (bloody awful ones, i give ya) right on the corners is a similar design spec to the style currently in existance. I suggest the main changes will be to include composite materials and plastics to reduce weight and gain better fuel consumption figures. Oh and several thousand punds worth of electronics :(

That to me is not a defender and should not be allowed to wear the same name badge as the classic that we all know and love. Would much rather them just badge it up as a new name altogether and stop the defender line. ****ing horrible.

Good job that we can build a classic 'fender from scratch, what with all the parts suppliers and bulkhead / chassis manufactureres that are about :D. I don't necessarily see the introduction of a new model to be a bad thing but they should certainly have let me have a go at designing it - the front end is appaling and just reaks of gaylander . The "classics" as so to speak, most of which are still sat in a field somewhere, or being worked on a daily basis will no doubt become increasingly more hobbiest - almost like kit cars and there should be no need for them to die out. They're still (nearly) all here from the 80's anyway. It's not like a new ugly ****er is going to spoil the scene. On the other hand, I would be interested to see what this new thing has to offer. From what I can see, the front end has two rather promenant towing eyes and a winch, which shows that they are at least thinking slightly industrially. It just wont ever replace the original - and there's no need for it to :)

Oh dear!

Not that it would be worth a fart, but I think we all ought to get a standard letter put together, explain to LR our fears and concerns, who knows, it might catch on round the forums and they might listen although I know we would probably be wasting our time.

Worth a try.

Looks OK from the side (minus the wheels) Don't like the front though and doesn't look rugged enough. Full of plastic!
