Well, it had to happen... After a few months trouble-free motoring, I've got a death rattle under the passenger seat. The local tyre & exhaust place also found a hole in the centre box. The centre box is easy to find and relatively cheap, but I'm having trouble sourcing the catalytic converters. The tyre & exhaust place normally supplies Bosel, but they're out of stock. They offered to supply a Regal(?) instead, but I can't find anything about them online. Island 4x4 can supply Britpart and Allmakes (or should that be any old make?).

Any recommendations (before I phone the local Landrover "specialist")? Thanks :)

P.S. 2000 4.6 V8

Having said the above :) the centre silencer is proving difficult. Island 4x4 has a part number of WCE104311, but LR gave me the part number WCE500010. I can't find anyone selling the latter, apart from genuine LR parts - which are of course too expensive.

Nothing like answering your own posts... Emailed Island 4x4 and they said that WCE500010 is American spec. Phoned another LR dealer and they confirmed that WCE104311 is the correct part number. Another example of numpties on LR parts desks giving wrong part numbers........

Looks like I'm going with Britpart cats, silencer and gaskets - £413.20 delivered from Island 4x4. Tried Bosal, but that's over £700. And genuine LR are over £1500.

Have a look on the bay-of-e few sellers of there sell new parts quite cheep
Also dont rule out used!
I got a full stainless system including cat for £45! When I had my 4.6
Was more than worth the drive to Sheffield to pick it up
Made it sound fantastic! ! Its about the only thing I miss about that car

Just shows how much Land rover mark up is. Genuine Land rover are or used to be made by Bosal. The extra is for having Land rover stamped on the boxes no doubt.

What's wrong with the cats? If they are rattling, drill a small pilot hole and stick a largeish self tapper into the box which will hold the cat structure in place - it will not affect the operation of the cat. Mine has flown through three MOTs like that. Then find a cheapo £60 aftermarket centre box - sorted.
