Whats everyones thoughts on it being a worn selector fork?
Land Rover is going to the gearbox specialist on wednesday and they've offered to take care of it all for me including box in and out, can't fault their after customer service.
it would a good bit of fore/aft play before moving the selector hub,in the most extreme gear would pop out as not fully selected

That could possibly explain first gear popping out after the first rebuild, will just have to see what they decide. I've now got a copy of the LT77S workshop supplement i'll be taking along for them to use and i've rigged up a old transfer box input gear with a nut on the end. My thinking being they can wind this around by hand with a U shaped speed brace and test it on the bench before it has to go back in the vehicle.

excessive wear on forks is unusual with an lt77,greatest issues are front bearing failure synchro hub thrust washers breaking up ,synchro hub slippers and springs breaking or coming dislodged
