just changing my brakeswitch on 04 td4 hoping to put out the warning light on the dash. i have the newer type switch but didnt come with the new wiring. just looking on ebay and they are £27 plus!! is this correct? seem absolutely crazy if thats the correct price. has anyone made one up ever to fit the wire from new to the old connection?

cheers-happy new year : )

i have bought the switch but because its different from the one fitted in the car i need to buy the harness as its not a straight swap. i paid £18 for it but the £28, the cheapest ive seen, is ridiculous price for a couple of connectors. i'll see if a LR dealer will supply the wiring cheaper than ebay. £31 would have been better.

yes thats the one in the car but it been superseded by a new switch which requires a new harness also. different connectors....all at a stupid price.

But if it's still available why bother upgrading....my last one was good fo 65k.

This^^^^
If you have the old design switch and it's still available for around a tenner, why spend 3 times as much changing to the later design which requires a new harness too??
The latest design doesn't last any longer, LR just changed supplier iirc
Buy the correct switch and sell the incorrect one on ;)

i'll do just that because the old style switch is £15 cheaper than the new wiring even and i'll get a refund on the old one. i didnt realise that they had just changed supplier and i thought that there must have been a fault on the old style switch

There was an issue with the old style switch which is why it was changed to the later design (common with P38 or D2 can't remember which one) - just read on here how many people are changing brake light switches to give you an idea!

People think they're getting a bargain off eBay but often you can buy cheaper from a real place!

Worth doing homework first!
