She really does have a bit of a phobia with fish  Anyway, I have too many hobbies and interests as it is. Loved keeping the fish back in the day though. I was in a club and it had a massive membership. You'll know this from your Aquaworld days, but there were Aquarist clubs all over the place. We used to have a bus tour or two each year to visit large shops such as yours, or specialist species breeders. Our club took a stand to Alexandra Palace one year and we showed fish there. Funny how times change.

Fantastic :) It's crazy how massive it was back then. My memory might be playing tricks, but I'm sure I went to a fish show just about every other weekend. I remember I had my super clean little show tanks and insulated wooden cases to carry them in. I won best in show once with a self bred bitterling. I was so proud to get my Aquarist's Gold Pin :D Happy days!

Dead right it was massive...and still is but shrimps are the must have now...In my days Freddie Laker was king for flying in boxes of fish from Florida farms...we ordered on a Monday and got them on Wedensday of the next week so had to reorder before the first lot hit the tanks and were sold...goldfish were 10 pence each landed we sold them at a quid each or 10 for 8 quid...we sold 2000 a week!!...neons came in a thousand to a box!!...

Thanks everyone for suggestions...am pleased with the plastic runners I fitted and the fact both panes now slide...have also made and fitted mesh security sliding outer grills...must update my project thread...
