I have got a 2000 freelaner 2.0.diesel and have been having starting problems for some time now, sometimes it starts first time, other times you have to try for ages, other times nothing at all. I am told i need a new starter motor, ang suggestions for a competetively priced place to get one?
thanks

Hello,

I had to have a new starter motor fitted but we called out Land Rover assistance when we could not get it started. It had been getting worse and worse. The LR man to tide us over got a metal bar, placed it on the starter motor and gave it a sharp hit with a hammer on a couple of points and it worked fine since then until the new one was fitted. Must have shifted some dirt or something, maybe that might keep you going a bit longer. New one cost £280 new and fitted from a LR independant if that is any use.
