So I need a new cylinder head for my td5 2004 Disco 2 diesel.

Can anyone help with where to get one and best price?

I need to find out whether its a 10p or 15p engine will post when I do

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the info i'm already checking the site Turner Eng out.

Can anyone tell me if a re-manufactured head is comparable to a new one?

new one is obviously better, any head thats been skimmed or hot will be compromised compared to new though maybe still serviceable ,though new will come bare ie need valves etc fitting

Looking on Turner Eng website the re-manufactured heads go through a pretty inclusive indepth process.

As for all of the other parts I think i'll be using the ones Ive already got

In all honesty i'm hoping to be able to with new but its alot of cash by the time labour is added

yes theres a lot of work re-working a head ,a good second hand one is what i often fit, you can get complete engine for £1200 ish

i got a td5 head from jon daunter(think thats there name) breakers yard £225+vat with a 3 month warrenty

I've decided to go with a new head from Turner Engineering as I want to repair it properly rather than at cost.

When I bought the disco it came with a 3 month warranty but going into the details of it the cylinder head isn't covered.

However thanks to the sale of goods act (and a threat of legal action to the company i bought it from) they have agreed to pay. I am not expecting them to cover all of the costs but i will make sure its repaired properly

Im going to order a head fitting kit would i also need to get a bottom gasket kit?

So far the cost is £1657 including vat and a fitting kit

Sales of goods act-satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.

Only a muppet would pay out, speak to citizens advice

I'm going to battle not to and so far so good, ive done my reading in depth and am prepared (should all be ok)

Im paying to have the work done once agreed then they will refund me

I bought it from stockport so im using my own mechanic and in order to speed the process up and the research I have done I am getting the work done.

I will also be keeping all faulty parts as proof

why not just ask them to take the vehicle back and refund your money? this will be cheaper for them I'm sure. If they won't then I doubt you'll see your money back!

I fear you'll never see your money back for any repairs you get done.

As I said before, take the car back and demand a full refund, if you don't get it it'll be more evidence against them when it goes to court, and it will !!!!!

Don't forget to document everything, every conversation every tele call, every e-mail.

The very best of luck to you,

Dave

Thanks for the advice Dave

I'm going to continue in getting it fixed as when it's done it's a vehicle I'd like to keep for a few years.

I have already had £350 refunded for a getting the air suspension sorted. Since I threatened legal action they seem to been quite helpful

Fingers crossed
