Nearly went straight through the MOT

Due to a new ruling on the MOT I have to replace my bottom ball joint

it's not knackered or showing any signs of wear, but the powers that be say it needs to be replaced because the rubber is split

£17, and a bit of swearing, will see it done.

I suppose that is not bad for a 13 year old motor could've been worse.

You can get new boots for ball joints

you measure the size you need and order one!!

that's what i'm doing now, as the ball joint is in good condition.
I nipped round my mates garage and got a box of different sizes,Saved a job

for what it is worth and cost I would replace the whole thing , how long has it been split , and let all the gunge and grit into it.

i've checked it over and it's fine.

i'm very good at glueing stuff tbh, but I think the tester would not accept it glued up

if its not split he cant pass it. I use black gasket sealer for alot of things

good as temp repairs to tyres and suspension air bags too when cords are showing. Although i strongly recommend replacing properly after MOT with those sorts of things
