Nanocom; where, why, what, how?

do you just plug it straight into the car and start reading? I was nervous to use the EAS software because it says it indices the warning message!

Faultmate offers the possibility of direct access to the BECM, something not available on any other system to my knowledge, it is also possible to upgrade to L322 etc and it needs a laptop, it is also locked to one VIN unless you pay extra for the unlocked version.
Nanocom is stand alone, no laptop needed or possible. It's not locked to one VIN but as standard only covers one engine type, the other two P38 engine types can be added at about £50 each, it will then operate on any P38. It also comes in Disco versions.
Hawkeye needs a variety of different cables, will not do a re-sync of BECM to engine ECU and on the L322 will not calibrate the EAS.:)

A good idea to read the instructions first IMO. Some functions require the ignition on, some require the engine running etc. You should also be careful that it is at the home screen before unplugging.

Button on the indicator stork? - you mean I can clear the message without a diagnostic tool?

TCubed - the free EAS software is great. It does put a warning on the dash but that goes if you turn off in the correct order. The warming I have is different and due to a height sensor failing - changed the sensor so the EAS is working but the electronics don't know I fixed it!!

As Datatek says read instructions, the website has some great videos showing exactly how it works.

I thought the Nanocom allows access to the BECM, to set the code for syncing the 2 boxes.

Nanocom does, Hawkeye does not as far as i last heard.

The "Slow 35mph" warning on the dash when you plug in the EAS diagnostics is to indicate that the EAS ECU has entered diagnostic mode.:)

Can you do any damage with it that cannot be repaired with the same unit?

What instructions? They aint non with nanocom but its an easy unit to navigate and explore.

I'm sure mine is the EAS Messages, although it is 30mph. As I had various EAS messages before I fixed it I assumed it was the same type.
The speed function was one of those things I read in the manual and never use so I may have knocked the button and set it by mistake.

Thanks for confirming the bit on the Nanocom. It is the system that wins me over. The Faultmate looks good but tied to one car its too pricy for me.

I have the free EAS software so calibrating is possible with that (even if its a PITA with the cable laptop etc) however I can't get rid of the 30MPH speed limit warning, luckily the RR does go faster and the warning beep is barely audible.
I expect to find a list of faults as long as me arm when I get it.

The speed limit warning is turned on and off with the top button on the indicator stalk. Press it to cycle through the options.
