I contacted Mattia at Nanocom and this is what I got back :
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hi,
The Nanocom are now sold out and I will be out in a month with a new version that will have a lot of improvements, It will have a stong electronic design and a better look, a 3,5 inch display with touch capability will give to the new nanocom an easy user interface. No more PC required and so, no more problems of operative system compatibility, drivers and so on. The Nanocom will be seen by the PC as an exernal disk drive to load/download maps and reports of the diagnostic files. When the New nanocom will be available it will perform all the function of the old version with the adding of the V8 managements for DISCOII, and a basic management of the PUMA defender engine. The new platform will will allow the Nanocom to operate with all LR cars, and to quickly develope and upgrade the units to cover all the most important ECUs if all the LR cars.
The most important thing is that the new unit will have about the same small price.

If you need it now please contact me again next week I will try to find one, maybe I can give you a repaired one for a discouted price.

Regards
Mattia

Mine is a 1998 TD5 and its been remapped. On the early ECUs the chips were soldered in and the main one was not flashable. However it is possible to replace the main chip with a socket and fit the later ECU processor chip which allows you to do whatever can be done on a later ECU. Thats what has been done to mine by Gary at TD5 Alive.

The other alternative is to buy a later ECU on eBay. I picked one up for £89 and keep it as a spare ready loaded with my mapping and alarm stuff so its plug and play if I have a problem.
