My rebuild thread! 3.9 disco v8

Got my ac/alternator on and belt


Started to sort out the garage as it was a tip to be honest.


Just need to sport out the front section now and should be alot better!

Going to clean plenum and inlet tomorrow then refit them.

All heading in right direction

torque the inlet down at least twice

Put inlet back on and torqued down, some right tricky bolts to get at!

All gear box bolts in minus one a torque converter bolts.


Started to put all my plugs/pipes back on all coming back to me now!


Put my bigger wheels on aswell !!

Ohh and got a set of bosch HT leads for £16

Hopefully get the beast up and running this week then down to local garage for MOT , then will sort out tax and insurance.

few thinks left to do are:
refit mid and rear exhaust
Exhaust manifold to cat gaskets
wire in fuel pump
Wire starter
Re mount tank
Fit rad
Torque convertor bolts
Fit plenum chamber
Put in the fluids
Hope and pray
Turn the key see what happens

Cheers, cant get down and do anything yet as its just to hot for me , gonna go have a beer in the shade then this evening will do abit more

Fitted rad
Fitted all the pipes to rad, did gaskets on manifold to cat. hopefully have it ready to start tomorrow! got my battery on charge. So tomorrow or tuesday !! Will do a video aswell

Right i need a bit of help and advice on plugs!





Any ideaa to what/ wheres these 2 plug in?

Also theres 2 i cant remember for life of me what went where theres a plug on inlet manifold , and one plug on fuel rail. The plug options are either brown or white. Both plugs reach each one so i duno any advice or anyone kind enough to go have a look at there motor and compare much appreciated!

Also another one, does the water tank go to the far left of rad, im 99% sure. But wanna double check!
Red=to water tank
Green= to plenum

Right worked out where the first 2 plugs go, they go to amplifier! still need help with the white n brown plug though! cheers

Okay now solved brown and white plug! Looked through my phone and had a video of of the tappets noise! Yippie! so thats sorted!

So quick update.
Plumbed everything in
All plugs connected!
torque convertor bolts fitted
Oil put it
Anti freeze mix put in, 5l anti 5l water, still needs more!
Manifold bolts to cats tightened
Wires to starter


So now all needs is to find some vacuum hose for dizzy to plenum

wire in fuel pump (ran out of time neighbours ready to go to bed)

Fit plugs and HT leads, away i go (hopefully)

Right all is done!
Just need to extend my fuel hose a tad, then in good to go tomorrow!
