Nope, won't reformat to anything other than FAT32 and the camera won't use more than 2G at a time which equates to 29 minutes of actual video.

No worries .. thanks for the suggestions .. ;)

Hi Paul,

Sorry for crashing in. Loving the thread, vids and pics, you've got a nice vehicle there.

Just reading the end of the thread regarding the video length, I seem to recall reading that the 30 min restriction was so that digital cameras are categorised as a stills camera and not a video camera as this attracts extra duty.

Cheers

Andy

Glad you like it, and no worries, thanks for the further info .. saves me looking further .. ;)

11 am start, needed to replace head gasket, manifold gasket and exhaust etc, fit a thermostat and 'stuff' .. So round to Tims place .. ;)

The pics only show a bit of what we did, but basically removed and cleaned the head, rockers, pushrods full top-end strip, all re-fitted, re-torqued up properly, and valve clearances set .. :) Some of the bolts were a tad loose, some were anything but! Some of the rockers are a bit worn, some like new, but on the whole, pretty pleased with the day.

The pictures show a rough sequence from the engine bay to the head, to the workshop tables, to cleaning the head ..

So the engine now runs, gets to temperature and stays there!! Hoping to go laning this Monday night so that'll be a great test of it.

Sort of .. the new plunger housing needs fettling, the hole is a tad too small for the ball bearing to fit easily through so it's really stiff, but I'm sorting that today.

And fitting a new heater matrix so I might even have heating that works!

We also found that the battery box bottom has rusted out so we're looking at welding something in until I can do it properly and then just tidying a few things, putting the cb back in, stuff like that.

Good luck mate.

I'm going on the night laning tomorrow .. mine all, mostly, works properly now, we think, so tomorrow's a test of it all. Reverse does work now, but is still awkward, I have a heater that might work, we don't know if it does 'cos the thermostat hasn't got up to temp yet to open!!

Got to replace the cb and other stuff I took out to clean the mud off (which I still haven't done) but have a few hours in the afternoon.

I'll be carrying a few litres of water/anti-freeze .. ;)

You know, I love Landrovers, any shape or form of them but especially those modded and/or kitted for off-road/Green laning/competition Landys, but some of the standard parts are woefully crap!

Indicators! HTW do they hold bulbs in? The little tags are cut back, so the bulb 'leans over' in the holder .. WTF is that all about?

I bought a full set of new indicators and they're all crap ... they're suffix 'G', they're identical to the stock indicators and I've thrown two away 'cos they're so crap!

Rant over ..

On the plus side the Landy now runs, starts and ticks over nicely thank you very much, it holds water and has almost got a heater! I say almost 'cos I've still not got it hot enough to get water through the matrix properly yet ... ;)

Looking forward to night laning tonight round Derbyshire, iron out any gremlins!

;)

Derbyshire? Where abouts are you going? I'm pretty new to this green laning thing so trying to get an idea of where is good round here.

Dunno, meeting at the Fox House inn tonight, or start of Houndkirk Lane. I'm not arranging it for a change, just gonna follow someone .. :)

Heheheh, yeah, amazing the difference from normal to flooded!

Been working on the Disco to get the engine out .. everything is now uncoupled apart from the engine mounts and gearbox bolts, but it's getting dark so they can wait for tomorrow.

So if anyone's interested in a 3 door 300 Tdi Disco body and chassis, minus axles, engine, gearboxes, steering box and front seats make an offer! It'll include the V5 and will be transferred legally. I am using the engine, plumbing and gearboxes on my Defender, and I already have the axles. The chassis will come with nackered Defender axles and Defender wheels and tyres so it will roll, but no diffs or props or brakes! There are the front seat mounts for it somewhere and any other bits I don't want like the steering guard and front bumper etc ... it would need trailering away.

Aye. The 19j is really quite tired .. it starts and runs well but is gutless, with little power and expensive on fuel for what you get!

I have the Disco sitting there so it's an obvious move.
