i need your help lz :D

had my mum on the phone today, not a happy lady she is having problems with her gaylander/garage she uses.

its been at the garage 3 week now

Car is a Landrover Freelander TD4 GS Auto
Engine Size 1951 cc Diesel

Car went to the garage in January cos of a clunk when it started and oil on drive she was told

Initial problem was an oil leak which was coming from the dipstick.
He said he had fixed it in January but it was still leaking. So not "fixed"

She took it back and he said it was an "O" ring on the dipstick and he would order one. But we could still drive around as it wasn't a problem.
After 2 or 3 weeks she went round and showed him all the oil leaking.

She left the car with him and he eventually found out it wasn't the O ring. So he contacted Landrover
who told him about the filter in the rocker cap which he should sometimes need changing when the car has an oil leak problem

When he changed this he then found out that the car wouldn't start properly.
Landrover told him that it was the fuel lines he had taken off and put back and he needed new ones

So on Thursday he changed these and that is when he found out that the fuel pump wasn't working.

This was because the fuel wouldn't pump through to clear air locks.

He said a new fuel pump would be either 250 + Vat = 300 from EK or 300 + VAT for a landrover stamped part.

So we reckon that when he changed the filter and moved or undid the fuel lines then the fuel pump went, ??? or could it have already gone.

No problems starting before.

if he had sorted it out properly in January then fuel pump might not have gone.

What we needs to know is this.

Can we assume that he broke the fuel pump or not.?

Are we in our rights not to pay him?

Is a new fuel pump 250 or 300 plus VAT? and £550 job done ?

iv seen them on ebay for less than £100 £130 for a land rover one :p iv told my mum this fella is taking the **** and to get the car back and let me sort it out

no she didnt come to me 1st :mad:

so LZ your thoughts please, i would like to sort this out for her :D

What year is the truck?
It sounds as though the filter that needed changing was the crankcase breather filter as if these get blocked they can cause oil to leak and other problems.
I can't see why he would have had to undo your fuel lines to do this.....although the auto version may be slightly different to the manual ones?
Trouble starting could be loads of stuff, injectors, cam sensor, although if its been ****ing oil about i'd 1st check the fuel pressure sensor contacts are clean.
Does it actually start up or not?
