So much happened today, so I am going to try and say this in a shorthand way.
We got to LLangollen, then proceeded to the bottom of Allt y Badi.
Me and my mate (only 2 Discoverys went) were prceeding up the Allt y Badi, teaming with rain with so much loose rock and slate flying everywhere. We are driving up for about 5 minutes when we hit a little slate step which was a struggle to get up. My mate gets up after a few attempts and I try my best to follow.
Smoke was pouring from my tyres I was trying so hard to get up this step, then BANG my clutch has gone..... I try diff lock low, high, low range, high range, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th,5th and NOTHING!! My heart has literally sank though my butthole.
I then proceed to roll backwards down the hill to the bottom were my mate hooks up a tow rope and tows me back to the pay and display carpark in LLangollen. I then get 4 hours parking time and we decide to hit the Wayfarers instead in my mates Disco as to not waste the day completely.
We then get to the Wayfarers and not 5 minutes in we come across a lad on a motorbike who has come of and broken his leg sitting at the side of the track, so we manage to drag him across the backseat and get him back to the pub where they phone an ambulance, which took about an hour to get there and about half an hour to get him into the ambulance. At that time, it was time to go back to LLangollen and hook up the tow rope to my Disco and head home.
So we head back home about 40miles away and go straight to our Local garage that sorts our Landys out for us, and as soon as we get through the gate the tow rope snaps and my mate has steam pouring from under his bonnet!
Luckily it was only a split pipe, which Doug from the garage sorted out and re-filled with coolant and we were on our way home with my Disco sitting at the garage waiting for a new clutch to be fitted!
So going to cost £300 for my new clutch tomorrow which ok is a pain in the ass, but for a clutch, is a good price, it was not a great first experience Green Laning!
Despite what happened, I am looking forward to getting out again when my clutch is sorted and having another go!
Is it just me that thinks the shear drops of the wayfarer is terrifying, I was winging like a baby, but think it might have been because I was not in control of the car going around!
What a day! Glad to be home!
