Damn! I thought the crap that came out of my front axle when the pinion bearings went was bad!

Now seems clean in comparison..... :D

Good to see some progress mate keep it going! :)

Honestly like mud. Was taking around 5 seconds to sink once it hit the pan!!

Cheers dude hoping today will be a bit better

4 flushes hopefully will clean it up

As above put 2litre in lt230

Main gearbox in 5th gear

Lt230 in diff lock no Propshafts connected

Let engine tick over for a couple minutes each time then drain and refill

Optional:

After first flush remove cover plate to try to wipe out any sludge in bottom of lt230

Brilliant description Sam thanks mate.

Well disappointing today as no work done on the Disco at all. Mechanic had to have a day off so remained locked inside. Will have to carry on tomorrow.

Hit a bit of a stumbling block as I can't seem to get the diff lock linkage to connect up and it's making me worried that they are different between auto and manuals.
Anybody shed any light on why it doesn't want to connect up properly

My finger is on the stud that the linkage should pivot off but can't get it anywhere near to put the bolt through.

bugger me

is that an lt77 or an r380?

and is it the correct top housing for the box?

werent lt77 and r380 different dimensions, yet same overall?

seems like the hi/lo stick is too far forward!

bleurgh chunder get rid of that dirty AC rad!

Haha! Agreed get shot of it! :D

Ripped mine out when I fitted me winch. :)

Lol Yer it's going, hoping to make use of the fans instead of fans by putting them on a switch.

You only really need the one. Tis pretty large. I can't get both over the rad. As I was planning the same.

on a tdi mate i dont know if you even need a fan, we certainly dont use one on our daily 300

I could of the other weekend when it almost overheated after a play day. Back of the rad was full of mud so not much airflow. Was thinking a leccy fan would have helped keep it cooler. Maybe.

Should be a r 380 I hope!

As luck would have it the garage next door is breaking a manual 300tdi! What are the chances.

So liberated it of a couple of bits I need.

It's a different linkage. I think I have a manual one here.

Will swap you.

I could use the auto one to add diff lock to my auto td5 if I find one.

That doesn't look like one I've seen before Brian so that could be auto

I'm thinking that r380 has a longer 5thgear housing than lt77 so maybe it's an Lt77 top housing

Does the bias box have a reverse switch in it?

If not I'm stumped

link in pic is the r380 one hence dog leg shape to allow for longer extension case, lt77 is a straight piece of channel auto one will be similar

Cheers for all the info guys. Bit bent but new linkage fitted in the end.
And that's where the good news ends. Got the transfer box bolted to the gearbox and linkage sorted. Fitted the new sump plug and it was very tight. Took it back out and magnet was missing. Turns out it has fallen into the transfer box somewhere and has jammed it right up.
Had to separate the boxes again and removed 2 inspection plates so far with no luck.
Gave up and will continue the search Friday.
Just not been my week lol
