My disco 1 has developed a bad vibration since my lift

Ive greased the prop about a month ago, but only put grease in until a bit of the old stuff came out.

Maybe I'll try what you suggest Stu.

Its not a bad vibration, just a bit like driving on a rough road or having aggresive tyres, although my Tyres are AT's so its not that.

Does not do it all the time, sometimes she is smooth and all is right in the world. :)

I have noticed its worse when cold, seems a bit better when warmed up nicely. I was wondering if it could be engine related, maybe an injector on its way out?

blimey...simples...to find out where vibration..remove rear or front prop.put in diff lock drive it..no vibration, you removed offending item..too cure..

remove your poo rear prop and rear diff output flange..fit proper metal4 bolt type.second hand is fine!

be a cheapscape and go buy ex range rover off ebay etc..or blag one..i have 3 spare props, come and get one.£0

then..and the most likley cause for vibration..remove front prop..junk it..go buy td5 front prop off ebay..(£50+)has double cardon joint..go buy front output flange for lt230 to match (dont fit yours),ashcroft have them, not expensive..fit..job done..

THEN as you will discover your car is crap handling at speed, tramlines, dont self center on steering properly..so go buy qt or similar..NOT ****E..front corrected radius arms..also if not done cranked rear trailing arms..

can all be done cheapish,(except arms)

Zen,

I have been following this thread and thought that I had props sussed. I have done similar to this thread owner and lifted my Discovery 3". Advice from Mr Noisy has helped me with making the choice of a wide angle prop to the rear and a spacer to the standard prop at the front. However I have the chance of a new ex-military de cardon shaft from a 110 with Salisbury axle. Would this fit my Discovery 200 TDi and if so what mods would I need to make?

Cheers

means double cardon...it is a special uj,made of 2 in a long housing, gives more movement.

but as to will mil one fit..i have no experience of salisbury diffs,so no comment..(could be wrong stud pattern, incorrect lenght,or indeed perferct...no idea..dave at ashcroft i would ask)

Thanks Zen,

Research has found that I either get an adapter for the transfer case to go from 8cm to 6cm or alternatively get an output shaft and have the prop lengthened using my old one as a donor.

Apparently it is worth the effort but I'm not sure......

Scrap rear donut, buy a 4 bolt conversion flange for £35ish from paddocks, and fit a 200tdi rear prop. Disco td5 front props are ok but aren't geasable (you will need adapter flange from LT230 - £45ish). Best to get a proper double cardon one but £200+
