Hi everyone ,
My Gorgeous Landy was stolen about a month ago and used to Ram raid a post office !
You can probably imagine how heart broken I am !

As it's been declared Cat S , I'm able to buy the wreckage back.
I really loved this car , It would mean the world to me to have her back and repaired.
But it's a tough decision as I've no real idea of the cost/work that would need to go into it.

I just wanted to share the some images on here.
Im looking for peoples opinions on the best course of action.

Thanks ! , And keep yours locked up tight !!

I'm surprised it's only a CAT S. Did the insurance assessor look at the bent side?
As others said, take the money and buy one that's not bent out of shape.

Clearly the crooks know nothing about what vehicle to use for a ram raid, because an aluminium body vehicle isn't the smartest of choices.

Think Cat 'S' is the old Cat 'C' insurance class, basically a bent structure make's it an 'S' and also it would need re-registering with DVLA

I went to cash machine the other day on way home at 4am, parked nose into the machine so I could leave engine running, got cash and on way out police car stopped me as it was reported land rover was at cash machine, he reckoned it was a prime target as out of the way and of course a d3 is an ideal tool as its bloody heavy.

Which kind of goes to show they can turn out for crime or potential crime when they need to!

Take the insurance payout & look for another one.

Fit an immobiliser.
Diesels can be slightly more problematic if the fuel pump is mechanical but rather than fitting the immobiliser to the shut off solenoid - easily bypassed - consider fitting an electrical valve out of sight in the fuel line.
If the shut off solenoid is bypassed then the vehicle might start & run for a very short period but that will be all.

Yeah that's what they did with with mine . They got busted and did a runner before they got a chance to get the ATM though . Not before torching her though !

Did the scrotes set fire to it annorl? I spose one option would be.to buy it back and use it as a doner for next one, prices of used parts is going up fast. It depends on how much the insurer wants for it and whether you have room to store and strip it

Yeah ! , They torched it as they were getting away. Yeah that's defo on my mind , I had a 200 tdi engine put in about 10 years ago. surely someone could do with one of those ! . I live next door to a Garage that seem able to help me with storage. It's an option

That is the problem when you own something for a long time, it becomes part of you.
If that happened to me the deciding factor would be if I had somewhere to work on it, and of course if you could buy it back for sfa.
