In the footwell of my disco there's a large multi plug with a rubber shroud laying there. Thought nothing of it until today when the battery drained and the immobiliser/alarm decided to act up (jump start sorted that)

Found a large silver box above that this plug looks like it should fit. Can't think what it could be for as just about everything works? Its a non-EDC auto. The two things that I've noticed that don't work is the front sunroof and cruise control. I'm assuming the alarm is meant to do something more than flash the indicators when it goes off but it doesnt, so is this box anything to do with security?

I'll run out and grab pics now!
Cheers

looks like the plug will fit the socket........ plug away!! MFU? Cruise control ecu? see wots happens.

are those pubes in your footwell?

Yeah the plug looks the same size, just wondered if anyone knew what that ECU was for...with the funky alarm problems I've had I was a bit wary of plugging it in and not being able to start it again! I'll give it a go when I get back home.

Could be either grey pubes or the previous owner had a dog of some sort

Is it for the EGR system?

Mine has one spessiffkly (speshully) for that purpose:)

Had a bit of a google and this is the best I can come up with...

Most of the ecu's look to be small-ish and plastic. That one has quite a lot of pins and metal!

It either looks like one of these or one of these

Searching reckons an EDC ecu is on the drivers side though....
There's definitely a cable throttle but I suppose it doesn't mean the engine hasn't been replaced, its mid-1995 registered so about the cutoff date.

I'll unbolt it and solve this once and for all!

I'm not at home now until thursday (bloody olympics) will update when I get back

Funnily enough the ABS light comes and goes on ignition 2...probably been looped into the oil pressure light lol

it could be the abs module that has developed a fault and so just unplugged! this would explain why your abs light has been looped in to the battery light or like you say oil pressure so the mot man is happy
