Hi,

I posted recently as I was having weird electrical probs e.g.
intermittent wiper,rear fogs,rear wiper,glow chimes,light on chimes,
interior light etc etc all not coming on.This was after heavy rain
so I put it down to water in the fuse box or similar.

I’m now getting the interior light coming on/off on its own
and some of the above staying on permanently e.g. rear wiper, fogs
even when their switch is deselected.

After searching it appears that others have had similar probs which
turned out to be the Multi Function unit but there are conflicting
descriptions of its location.

Can anyone tell me if its either at the fuse box below steering wheel
or behind/near the glove box?? Apparently it’s a vream coloured box
about half the size of a fag packet. Any assistance greatly appreciated,

Cheers Kertir.

PS: its a 98 , 300 Tdi.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.Does that mean it's behind the glovebox?
If so how easy is it to remove the glove box to gain access
behind it ??

Cheers.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.I managed to get the glovebox down but I cant even locate a passenger side fusebox never mind the MFU. I can see the top of the blower motor unit and to its left there are 2 or 3 silver units AMR 5441
(2 off) and another larger metal unit with a huge mutiplug connector screwed in.

Below this above the footwell area there are 2 banks of approx 5 relays &
then a green box (YMC something ??) with 2 connections into the bottom of it.I cant locate the MFU.I've also had another look at the fusebox below the steering wheel & cant see anything resembling it there either............what am I missing????? (apart from the MFU),

Any ideas...........

Hi,

thanks, what a div.....I was getting myself confused (easily done).
When I saw passenger fuse box I automatically thought passenger side &
started to look behind the glove box. I now realise that it just meant the
fuse box inside the car ie. below the steering wheel.

Anyway I tried to remove the fuse box but there are 4 connectors on it
one of which is for the airbags so I need to know the best way to deal with this, do I just unplug it or take out fuse first or disconnect battery,

Any thoughts.............
