Hi all,

Well, just returned from my driving trip across to the Czech Republic, what a breeze! :)

Whilst I was there, I took a bit of time out to fit a new l/h rear mudflap and panel set. The panel had rusted through quite badly, and the old mudflap had fallen away many moons ago. All was going quite well, until I saw that the 'securing devices' that held the old mudflap panel onto the rigid bar were of a type that I had never seen before! It consisted of a type of 'bolt' with a ribbed shank (not threaded), that seemed to consist of two portions separated by a waisted 'break-off' portion, and a collar! After scratching my head as to how to remove it, I decided that it would be easy to remove the top bolt that held the rigid stay in place. Big mistake, as the bolt head is well secured under the boot matting, and I would have had to take the interior panels out to gain access! Not an option.

I then took a look at the replacement parts in the packaging for the mudflap, and found the attaching bits to be exactly the same as the bits still on the panel mudflap attachment point!

Anyway, I decided to get an angle grinder out, and ground the 'bolt' head away. The fit was plain sailing after that, although I used bolt & nut assemblies to fit the mudflap and the lower end of the rigid stay to the panel

I still can't work out how those odd bolt assemblies were supposed to be secured, or if there is a better way to remove them.
