Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked and answered but... I have just had a second hand instrument panel fitted and the garage is wondering how to reset the mileage. I'm sure I read somewhere that it is stored in the ECU so would automatically show on the mileage gauge on the replacement panel. Is this the case? Is there anything I/they should do to get the reading up?

Mileage is held in the ipack which is the computer in the instrument panel. If the garage has changed it then they should see the mileage reading change !!
Don't think it can be changed easily. Obviously not something that LR want you to do !!

Both these are dependent on the vehicle. There are several designs of Ipack, and 2 completely different designs off Freelander.
So knowing what vehicle you have is very important if you want an accurate answer.

The mileage displayed will be the mileage in the instrument panel of the vehicle it came from. What I meant was they should see it is now different from the old mileage.
To my knowledge immobiliser is not affected by ipack change. Others may know differently. I have never had a problem on 2002 variants.

I don't think there is a way to clone or change the mileage in the Ipack on a FL1 without LR diagnostic equipment.
It'll simply show what it was displaying when it came off the other car.
There was a theory that the mileage is also recorded in the ECM, which could update the new Ipack to the figure stored in the ECM, but I'm not sure 100% this is the case. If it was correct, the higher highest mileage would show, regardless of which this is in the ECM or Ipack memory.
I suspect T4 would be able to change mileage, but not having access to T4 or an early Freelander, I can't check.
I'm not sure why the immobiliser would be effected by an Ipack change on this vehicle, as it's pretty simple electronically.
