anyone know wot a motor trade insurance company wud value a '94 disco 200tdi with mods at?
been told they will only give me TRADE price for it getting stolen. i recon by the time they'v taken my £500 excess off it'd not be worth claiming as i'll come out with almost nothing. it'd also put my insurance up by £100 a year

they'v said their not able to give me a payout figure until i'v made the claim, but if its a really low price i dont want to make that claim. so do i or dont i?

as it a motor trade policy the only thing that is declared to them is the reg number. they only pay trade value and not wot its actually worth.

hmmm i have to provide reg and approx value on mine

you've kinda answered your own question, if they'll only pay trade value, even if there's 10k worth of bling bolted on it's still only worth what the ins company are willing to pay out

Motor Trade policies are aimed at the motor trade, therefore, will only pay the policy holder the trade price for a vehicle as the assumption is that the motor trader will have purchased from the auction in the first place.
As the payout is lower this means that the 'risk' is lower, therefore the price is lower.
Sorry if this is obvious stuff.

The killer will be mods.
As soon as you start to modify a vehicle (assuming it is not done at time of manufacture) then this raises the risk and as such raises the price.

Best thing is to contact specialist brokers who should be able to advise you on the best policy to take.

Hope this helps

****ing spamming git.  He int asking for advice on taking out a policy. He's already got a bloody traders policy so he knows all the **** you just posted.

What he' asking is how much will the trade price be.

I appreciate the post is asking how much it is worth, it is a shame that you find it difficult to express yourself.

I was simply trying to provide information from an insurers point of view and for other purchasers of motor trade policies. Perhaps you could reread the post or express yourself in a more positive manner.

So, from an insurers point of view, do you think it's fair to put everybody's premium up cos you had to pay money out due to uninsured drivers, etc? Surely insurance companies make enough monay and can afford to take the hit? No wonder so many people drive around without it. Money grabbing kunts. Paying "in-case" something happens. I bet that if insurance was done away with, not much would change. In fact, people would probably be better as they know that they would have to foot the bill for anything that happened.

problem you will have is proving you have added value as a product, the best you could hope for is trade price plus cost of extras-if your very very lucky.

But I too have trade policy and would suggest you do not claim.

cheers for ur replies. looks like im not claiming.

cant believe my insurance wud of gone up so much(£100) cos someone stole it. i could understand if i had done summat wrong - but being charged that much for someone to steal my motor is also robbery

Insurance = robbery. Simple as that. Can you imagine the glee in the insurance industry when motor insurance was made compulsory? ****in licence to print money is what it is.
