YaY! today my discovery failed its MOT...

BUT...

the reason im happy is that the items it failed on were items that i knew about and am currently dealing with!!! NO NEW FAULTS!!!

one question i do have though... how the hell do i "adjust" the front nearside wheel bearing?

(it failed on Sills corroded within 12 inches of seatbelt mount, blocked washer jet drivers side and wheel bearing adjustment)

I always take mine for an MOT even if i know its going to fail, i hate doing jobs on it then taking it for an MOT then it fails, i would rather have the failure list and get the jobs done, then take it back for re-test and get the MOT.

Im changing a bearing on my o.s.f wheel tomorrow, question is how tight do you pinch the big locking nuts up, i dont have a torque wrench.
When i looked at them yesterday i could undo the big nuts with my fingers, do they have to be tight whereas they cant be turned by fingers.

i always take any car for a test with issues know about. What you may think is a fail the tester may not. Plus you know what you need to get once failed.

i took it for its test for that reason. i didnt wanna start faffing with sills n stuff if it was going to fail on something else major. now i know exactly what needs doing.

i DO have a torque wrench but i cannot find an explanation in the haynes as to how tight the nuts need to be. it does mention measuring "endfloat" whatever that is... but even so i dont have the micrometer needed to measure it. :(
