Hi all.
I read the posts on this site every dinnertime while at work, and ive been able to solve a big list of problems with my 2000 dhse rangie.

I went to take for an mot last week and failed on front near side wheel bearing.
I changed the hub, not too much fuss to be honest, though was a little difficult to remove. But thats just because it hasnt been replaced since new.
However, after replaceing the hub, the car now has an ABS fault, which also gives a TRACTION fault.

A friend of mine has a great box of tricks ans went into the diagnostics.
He cleared the fault logged and all was ok... that is unitl the car moved off from standstill and the same error appeared once more.

Any suggestions?
is the sensor cream crakered??
How much and any suggestions as to where to get these from??
Any help is appreciated, that beeping everytime i turn the ignition on and off is getting on my nerves!

Thanks
C

You can get this fault if the sensor is either touching or too far away from the rotor. Take out sensor and see if it is damaged by rubbing (touching) this in itself does nothing to it, as the unless it has worn through to the coils it should still be ok. Push it in to touch then pull it back slightly turn wheel whilst holding sensor you should be able to detect any foul. Wriggle it out until it just stops touching. Check and clean the connections to the plug.

Thanks.
I just remembered, my friend said all the sensors were reading 2.8 volt, and all normal.
But after moving off, the front nearside had a reading of 2.3 volt.
does this change anything??

Might do that would indicate a bad connection. That is why i said clean connction to plug it may be corroded and has been disturbed when hub was changed.

Thanks.
I will try that when i get in from work tonight.

Was kinda pi**ed that id fixed one problem and maybe caused another!

but, i knew what rangies were like before buying, so i cant really complain.

Thanks again

I always grease the sensor and push it in until it contacts the ring on the CV joint. You say the wheel bearing was shot...were the teeth on the ABS reluctor ring damaged or does the face of the sensor look damaged? as stated, clean the plug/socket for a good connection.

I've got the same fault, but it only comes up once in ablue moon. Beep on the dashboard and a warning message ABS fault then TRACTION FAILURE. If I turn the ignition off and then back on again, it cleared.... until next time. Is this the same problem? If so, can you guide me where to look? Is it on one wheel or all of them? What does it look like & where will I find the thing? Sounds like a quick/easy fix if you know what to look for.

Battery is fine. Buckets of rain today so couldn't get out there and have a poke about. Pretty sure its a sensor popped out of position as described in the linked item. Will see at the weekend.
