Hi all

I just got it servied 2 weeks ago and now i'm losing power like crazy.
When i go to accelerate i just hear a loud whoosh of air (not turbo spool)up to 2700 rpm and then the turbo cuts out.
Turbo was replaced at xmas but the crank filter wasnt changed til march.
Any ideas?
No smoke or warning lights just loss of power

sounds awfully like a split intercooler hose, esp. worth checking the long one across the top of the engine where it rubs on the mounting screw for the top cover.

was thinking hose all right.I'll check later.
The noise seems to be coming from the back of the engine though.

right
front intercooler hose had a lovely tear in it so replaced it.But the problem is still there.
When i'm on the motorway at about 80 i lose all power and cant accelerate.the turbo just wont spool. If i have to stop then and take off it'll spool until i have to hit higher revs in the higher gears.
Whats going on:confused:

OK so have discovered that the problem starts if its held at 3k rom for a few minutes and then resets itself after being switched off for a while.Could it be a valve sticking?

I am going to resurrect this thread.

I can hear the turbo start to spool up as normal and then as the boost builds I hear a whooshing sound building up,(like a window open), as soon as I either change gear the noise goes until I press the accelerator where the turbo spools up and the noise starts builds again.

I am hoping some sort of hose problem but advice would be welcome.

It really sound like your turbo hoses (front or rear of intercooler) are not tight. When the pressure build up they start leaking and then the pressure and performance drop. See if all jubilee clips are tight (they do snap). I had one which snapped and I could not see it until I started wiggling it...

i had this problem once quite a while ago and I think it was somthing on the turbo its self not the turbo front hoses I know I got undernieth with the sump protector of and I could see it not atached to the turbo but I can not for the life of me think what it was

Well, got my fingers dirty last night and it is definately a hose, the small one in the middle, big gap in it. Looks to have worn through rubbing against a clip or screw or something.
Anyway, will try and get new hoses today and replace the bust one tonight to give 'er indoors a bit of confidence inthe beast.
