More "O bugger"

So i get on my train this morning and bump into a mate I've not see for a couple of months. Well he says after exchanging the usual "how goes", "I've just taken delivery of my new FL2". I could hardly hide my jealousy, "its the one that stop starts with leather interior bla bla etc etc". Moral of this tale? whats better than a well sorted FL1, easy, any FL2. Sorry for meaningless rant chums (and Chap if he's listening) but this is the second bloke i know with an FL2 and you can t move for them and RR Sports around the shires just now - seems LR have hit jackpot.

We were out Geocaching in a local village a week or two back. Its horse country there and Lanies are everywhere. We went to the village shop and there were two identical FL2s sat outside. Greal bling vehicles but what they like off road?

I dont think too many have been off road but I did read somewhere (not brochure) that like FL1 they are very accomplished. Its good to see LR doing well is it not? or rather they seem to be doing well to me? Does your Geocaching take you offroad?

Ask them how much they are paying on HP, that should ease the pain of jealousy

Fair comment - and I believe its important to be grateful for what you have so jealous yes a bit but pleased to see our marque doing well and my mate, of course! Quick Q are the 17ins late FL1 wheels the biggest us FL1 boys can fit? No real reason but I fancy making mine a little taller?

I have once or twice. A 4x4 enthusiast and Geocacher up near Stroud set a series of Caches on the part of the Fosseway that is now a byway. We did those last year and that ways great fun. Had the mother-in-law in the car and you should have seen her face when we got to a water splash!!

There is also a series of caches on and around Roundway hill near Devizes. We drove one of the byways near there, picking up caches along it as we went. It was December, late in the day and very cold. There was a hoar frost everywhere and it was a spectacular sight. We carried on until it became apparent that the track up ahead was unpassable so I turned round and headed back. The trouble was I had had to drive some heavy rutting in frozen ground. The ruts were too deep for the Hippo so I had to carefully shift to one side to miss them. I hadn't counted on having to come back and now it was getting dark. We were about a mile and a half from the nearest normal road. I took it steady and we got out okay but on reflection it was a stupid thing to have done alone.

I think the FL2 is nice, but I wouldn't buy one. If I was spending that much on a car, I'd probs buy a good used Disco 3.

That's a fair point - of all the car transporters I see around the Midlands the vast majority are laden with FL2s, and before any smart arse pops in with some witticism, they are new ones being delivered to dealerships, not FL2s being returned to the factory

In fact I might even start keeping a league table of transporters for a week. Beats spotting the names of Eddie Stobart lorries or having to talk to the Mrs in the car.

Yes, if I had the wonga I think I would get one. An HSE in "Parker Ink" Blue. However I'd be sure to read up on the threads before asking a question like "I'm gonna buy a FL2 what should I look out for" :doh:

I think you can get 18" sport rims for the Freelander 1 - but that does mean that the tyres are a little thin and not meant for the green stuff.

I agree that the Freelander 2 looks an astounding beasty - and in five years I could probably afford one - and the wider Land Rover marque look fantastic. I did try out a Range Rover Sport in the local dealership one day to kill some time and I must confess I found it a little 'snug' for my taste.
