I'm looking to replace all of the shocks on my P38. However, i'm not sure what to replace them with.

Britpart shocks work out at £70 all round, while the Monroe ones are double the price at £140. (all from Paddock)

For all four shocks, that's not excessive, but i'm not sure if the extra cost is worth it.

I don't do proper off-roading as such, so i don't need the super- cellular shocks, but i don't want ones that are going to fail on me, or not give such a good ride.

has anybody got any experience of the above and could advise whether the extra £70 is worth it, or should i just save the £70 and replace them all over again in a year or twos time with the money i've saved?

DO NOT go for brit part. I made that mistake, before I knew better. They are cheap to buy for a reason. They are crap. Go for monroe or better and do the job once.

Terrafirmas are supposed to be good as well I am looking to replace mine again I did them about 50k ago and they are more tired than knackered and its a cheap enough fix

Looking into these myself at the mo.....already excluded ****part after reading up on here so was thinking the Boge from P38spares.co.uk, £120 all four....anyone tried these?

I used Dingo , they got me genuine rears and boge fronts for about £23 (ish) a corner.

dont get ****part , ever , for anything!!!!

bollocks britpart do a range of parts ,there yellow gas shocks are very good certainly as good if not better than many dearer shocks which they also sell, they are a wholesaler not part manufacturer there under £10 basic shocks like other wholesalers are ****

i'm using ordinary britpart shocks for the last two years. and i do off road, not just climbing a mudddy hill on sundays but long 600k sprints through the bush. bit like rallying i guess but at far lower speeds. whatever. the point is the shocks see a LOT of action. and they are just giving in a bit but i certainly don't grudge 'em that. this kind of (ab)use was never foreseen when they were fitted. However next time I will not go monroe or anything, i will go OEM. Like the ride better.

I.ve got Monroe on my car. Had them now for only 6000km and they need replacing. My britpart steering damper lasted about 2000 km.
I think next I'll go for Koni or Terrafirma.

I fitted Britpart std on all four corners of my old black 3.5Efi. Very cheap and very good (the 10miles I did on em).......but then again the car was a pile of ****e in all other ways and I was sellin the thing anyway.
If you plan of keeping the vehicle, spend a few quid extra and don't get the cheapest option unless you're really skint.

Answer to Monroe vs Britpart...... yes, I personally would go for Monroe
