Ive been slowly doing away with as many electrics on my 92 RRC as possible! Ive now come to the electric windows. Im hoping to replace the electric regulators with the more reliable wind up regulators! Has any ofb yo done this? Is it just a case of swapping them over or is there fiddly and complicated mods involved? Any advice appreciated!

Depends I just replaced my electric regulators on the Freelander 1.2002 But noticed extra slots for mechanical version. If yours is similar I do not see a problem but this would an expensive route to a easy issue of replacement for a regulator. Considering switches to be isolated and blanks for consoles. Not forgetting any computer triggers.

Are these extra slots circular?

Maybe they are just for access to the glass pinch plate bolts and you weren't smart enough to perceive that given you're not a born Scot ....but have enjoyed our shores and warm welcome but now somehow we irk you.

In the kit car world it was rapidly seen that it is easier to fit electric wind up windows than conventional ones. For what it's worth!
I have fixed them in a variety of cars now and really don't see the hassle. Although I would very quickly take the switching that makes em go down, and possibly back up again, with just one push of the switch, out of the equation.

Well clearly Mr Angry McThistle, On mine they are not access to the window clamp as I have spent a lovely day replacing one defunct window regulator and gluing on the other side glass clamp that came off.. No my description may have confused a you dear Jock or should I call you Nicola Sturgeon from now on. The slots in question are cut outs at the right corner. I would happily show a picture if handy but that would set you off on one I see. Lets all send Mr Angry a Virtual Love Hug. BIG HUG

Now now, crayons are not the only drawing implements.

Have you looked in the parts book or the workshop manual to see if they are mentioned? If they are then retrofitting them will be easy enough as the doors will be the same. Getting them, on the other hand, might be a little more difficult.

RangeRoller dt, I didn't get to that part the project yet, unfortuntaley... Also realized that a lot of stuff is special order order or not available for 4-doors. Transmission tunnel carpets for example...

Strange, I've owned four Classics & only had a single lecky window failure, on an '85 that had been round the clock more than once.
Cured by a visit to the breakers & 30 mins. worth of effort

Got an 1982 MY, and it definetly had manual ones. Not decided yet if I try to fix the electric after market one or just plain replace them...
